LOCAL BRANDS NEED LOCAL SPACE

Always dreamed of having retail space for your brand? We’re working with Manulife Place where you can WIN 3 months of rent-free retail space at Manulife Place in downtown Edmonton by applying to their pop-up competition today!

This Spring, we will be awarding two local brands with FREE retail space at Manulife Place for THREE months.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

By tapping into the best of the best from Edmonton’s entrepreneurial scene, our goal is to curate an environment that is anything but cookie cutter by celebrating Edmonton’s local talent.

Located in the heart of Edmonton’s business district, Manulife Place is downtown Edmonton’s exclusive shopping destination. Directly connected to the city’s vast pedway system and with access to many of the commercial centres downtown, these two lucky winners will gain immediate exposure and profile for their brands.

THE PRIZE

Two lucky winners will each receive their very own retail space for three months. Each unit will be delivered in White Box condition. Manulife Place will help market and promote the retail spaces, drawing visitors to your space and ours.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a non-cookie cutter retail concept to animate the retail landscape at Manulife Place. What does that mean? It means unique, authentic, cool, trendy or never been seen/done before concepts.

HOW TO APPLY

Please visit the Manulife Place Website for full details.

Application Deadline is May 11, 2018

New Age of Retail – Curating the New Standard

Being part of a niche market, we are often asked “what exactly we do as a company?” Here is a look on how we think, what we do and how we do it.

At Beauleigh we have long been fans and proponents of all that is new, innovative and ground-breaking. We have spent the last 8 years focused on being at the forefront of the retail, cultural and culinary revolution. We’ve travelled extensively in effort to learn and educate ourselves on what the rest of the world is doing, in hopes that we will be able to bring a little bit of what we see, to the projects we handle – collecting intel if you will.

We’ve spent many hours inquisitively and voraciously talking to some of the most talented local food and retail operators that the city and the country has to offer. Out of these collaborative and insightful conversations, ideas are borne, concepts are created and launched, thus becoming the “new” standard. All of this takes months and sometimes even years to come to fruition. In our line of business, patience is indeed a virtue!

In this time thoughts, personalities, will and desire all must align to begin the process that we and the tenant embark upon. It is a journey that although rewarding in the end can have its challenges along the way. It is ultimately the determination and belief in the concept that what is being pursued is right and will not only work but will make a difference. Believing this provides the encouragement to keep pushing through until the concept store opens.

At Beauleigh, we have been fortunate enough to play a role in bringing our knowledge and our collective talents to the properties we have worked on over the years. Often it is quite simply a leap of faith for the entrepreneur and trusting that the environment is right for them, based on that gut feeling, and believing in our years of experience of the industry.

Good morning from First Canadian Place 🙌🏽✨

Beauleigh provides the support, guidance and furnishing facts in order for informed decisions to be made. For the retail or restauranteur they now have the task of creating and envisioning a new concept in a retail environment they’re unfamiliar with. For the landlord it means working closely with an entrepreneur for whom this experience is very personal, as it is the tenant putting his/her name, career and business on the line and taking the risk. Together, the tenant, the landlord and ourselves will begin on what hopefully becomes a successful and rewarding partnership for all parties.

At Beauleigh, the path of least resistance is not an option. We believe that simply being satisfied with the status quo will never result in positive change. We want to constantly push the envelope so that we are on the forefront of change.

To say we are extremely excited about the future of retail is an understatement. There is no doubt that there has been a seismic shift in defining what retail in fact is. Whatever adjectives were previously assigned or aligned with the concept of retail, today no longer applies. It is so much more complicated. There is no cookie cutter formula or approach to achieving a successful retail environment or to creating a successful retail concept. Matching the retail concept to the property, requires a very customized and personalized approach. Some of the amazing and talented operators we have been fortunate enough to bring to our properties have given us much insight into what it takes to get it done.

It is going to require so much more on the part of both landlords and tenants if they want to be part of this inevitable change in the market. The same old attitudes cannot exist if we are to respond to the demands of the new consumer. We have to make room for this new, innovative and creative crop of mostly young, authentic and brilliant entrepreneurs and lay the groundwork for success, not failure. This means working in true partnership and collaboration to ensure everyone’s success.

We're severely out of stock and severely behind on production but also severely illogical which is why today we are giving away (= free) our best-selling, life-changing Hand Chemistry (30ml) in our Toronto Exchange Tower store. We have reserved quite a few but it goes without saying that this gift is available while stock lasts in store. Do you have to make a purchase? No. Do you have to visit the store to get it? Yes. Why are we doing it? To celebrate the beauty of illogical thinking (it's liberating in the world of business). A month ago, our Exchange Tower store hadn't been born yet, but somehow it's now become our top store in Canada (on its own without the help of a free hand cream). ❤️🐒 [ Very happy/sad update: so many of you showed us love far more quickly than we could imagine and we ran out of stock ay 11am. Please don't scream at the cozy people at the store and instead vent on here so we can all get what we deserve. 😢 ]

#InternationalWomensDay

Today is a day to appreciate all the strong and resilient women in your life. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #PressforProgress, which brings up the conversation of the gender pay gap. Woman can no longer be complacent. With the global activism movements like #MeToo and #TimesUp, creating a platform where woman now have a voice. The fight for woman’s equality, now more than ever before cannot and will not be ignored.

“Started by the Suffragettes in the early 1900’s, the first International Women’s Day was celebrated in 1911. International Women’s Day belongs to all communities everywhere – governments, companies, charities, educational institutions, networks, associations, the media and more. Whether through a global conference, community gathering, classroom lesson or dinner table conversation – everyone can play a purposeful part in pressing for gender parity.” – International Women’s Day Organization

Today we celebrate the woman who have blazed trails for all of us, including the potential of all the woman in this, and future generations. We asked the woman at Beauleigh, who inspires them and why?

As we come to the end of the not so summery summer in Toronto, we think it’s safe to say we are starting to feel those vacation blues. Lucky for us, Toronto has just been given a little trip to Italy in our downtown core – staycation here we come! Ciao!

A second Sud Forno location has arrived at Bay Adelaide Centre, a much anticipated arrival after the success of their first Queen Street West location. Sud Forno is a South-Italian style bakery and restaurant created and operated by Cosimo Mammoliti, the founder of Terroni.

Monday relief. 🤓

Located in a heritage building off of Yonge St. and Temperance St., Sud Forno offers a unique fast casual meets fine dining experience on two levels. The ground level of the restaurant, dubbed “La Mensa” includes communal style seating where you can enjoy a cappuccino and Nutella Bombolone, or a glass of wine at the full service bar all while listening to a live DJ.

Dreams do come true….try our BRUNCH pizza at Sud on Temperance this weekend! – smoked salmon, sliced tomatoes, capres, red onion and mascarpone…delicious!! • • • #thehungryhoe #to_finest #toreats #food.diva #travellinfoodie #tastesbyjade #blogto #hypetoronto #foodbloggersca #thenewpotato #Italyfoodprn #Foodrepublic #Tastingtable #Lacucinaitaliana #Food52 #Tofoodies #Toronto_restaurants #stupidgoodfood #curiocitytoronto

If you’re in a hurry, grab and go options are available as well but if you have time to stay awhile, which we recommend you do, try sitting in the upstairs dining room called “Da Geppetto” that offers a full menu with authentic Italian cuisine.

If the aroma of the fresh bread and coffee wasn’t enough, the space itself is a sight you don’t want to miss. The detail in the design is stunning. This 7,300 square foot (confirmed SF) is accentuated by the wood ceiling panels and intricately laid mosaic tiles on the floor.

KING TAPS

Calling all beer lovers, King Street West will be home to a new tap house, King Taps!

It’s no secret that most of us enjoy a mid-week drink after a long day in the financial district, or on a regular Friday night, or perhaps the occasional pint here and there. Regardless, we know how important the beer scene is to Torontonians, which is why we are thrilled to be a part of the team bringing this tap house to Toronto.

Quite literally, King Taps will be the King of taps carrying over 50 craft and international beers and 20 wines on tap. If for some (insane) reason that doesn’t do it for you, the food definitely will. The King Taps menu has been carefully curated for this Toronto location with Canada’s top culinary talents and star chefs Rob Feenie and Matt Stowe behind the menu.

For far too long, we have had a vision of animating the space under the food terrace at First Canadian Place facing King Street. We knew that there was an amazing opportunity for a patio full of life and entertainment, but we had to marry the perfect tenant to the vision.

The Beauleigh team put our heads together to ask ourselves, “What is Toronto missing?”. We live in one of the world’s coolest cities booming with unique concepts, amazing operators and award winning designers. So what can we bring to the city that hasn’t already been done before? Hello King Taps!

King Taps is part of the Cactus Club family, so you know everything from the design, down to the service and vibe is going to be unmatched. We are impatiently awaiting the opening of this new tap house in 2017!

Eatertainment Has Arrived On Bloor Street With Eataly

The Beauleigh team is very excited to announce the arrival of Eataly to Canada. Not only is this the brand’s first location in the Canadian market, but it also marks the arrival of Canada’s very first food hall. It’s about time Canada caught up with the way the rest of the world eats.

As the exclusive retail consultants on the project we are proud to have collaborated with ‎the Manulife team and the team of retail designers at GH+A to be able to bring this vision to life. It has been years in the making, with the last 4 years spent reimagining this amazing iconic building. The vision was born well before Eataly’s announcement expressing their interest in our city. This is where preparation is met with success.

The goal quite simply was to create a food and entertainment destination, thereby putting a stamp on the city. Mission accomplished!
